Travel Deal of the Day (April 21, 2010)

Want to fly without any advance notice coast-to-coast for $99 plus tax/fees? You may be able to do so if you are a college student....

The Deal:
If you are a student age 18-22, you are eligible for fly standby on Airtran for $49, $69 or $99 (plus taxes and fees) per flight segment on nonstop flights. No advance reservation is necessary. Additional restrictions, such as blackout dates, apply. The ability to go to the airport without any advance notice and fly (for instance) from Atlanta to Los Angeles for $99/way (plus tax/fees) can be a great deal, especially when you need to fly immediately. Of course, patience is required, as you are flying standby.

How:

Travel Deal of the Day (Apr. 6, 2007)

If you or someone you know is graduating from school this Spring, this is the perfect time for that person to earn 10,000 frequent flyer miles for graduating.

The Deal:
As mentioned in the Nov. 28, 2006 post, earn 10,000 United Mileage Plus miles for graduating from a University as long as you sign up for the United College Plus program while you are a college (undergraduate or graduate) student.

How:
1) Sign up for the United College Plus program (free of charge). You must join United's Mileage Plus program (also free) before joining College Plus.

2) Send in your college (undergraduate or graduate) transcript to the address listed here.

The Inside Scoop:
Without question, this is the best frequent flyer bonus available to graduating college students. This deal is truly hassle-free, and it would be a shame not to claim 10,000 free miles. Be sure to qualify by signing up for the program while you are still a student.
