If you are thinking about traveling the day before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after Thanksgiving, you might want to consider Y-UP or K-UP fares (which provide free upgrades to first class).

Y-UP and K-UP fares are expensive coach fares that provide free upgrades to first class. Most of the time, the cheapest coach fares will be far less expensive than these K-UP and Y-UP fares. Travel Deal of the Day (October 23, 2007)
I am a big fan of Priceline – but when using Priceline for hotels, you must be aware of a limitation of Priceline.
When bidding for hotels on Priceline, you must bid for a certain star-level of a hotel and a “zone” with in a city. That zone may be very small or may be a very large area. Cities like New York have quite a few zones – so, each zone is a relatively compact area. In contrast, smaller cities may have only one or two zones – meaning that you may obtain a hotel room in an area of the zone that is far away from your ideal location in the zone.
Even after this potential problem, I still think Priceline provides excellent hotel deals. However, be aware when using the zone system with Priceline.

If you travel in a group of two or more people, there may be benefits to booking your airline tickets or hotel rooms separately as opposed to consolidating the tickets or rooms in one reservation. Many people do not think of creating reservations for each individual traveler, but this can often save you money.
The Deal:
When you are booking airline travel for more than one passenger or are booking multiple hotel rooms, it can often save you money to book the reservations separately. If only one airline ticket or one hotel room is available at the lowest price, reservation systems will often default to the higher price for all tickets or rooms booked (even though at least one ticket or room would have been booked at the lowest price if booked separately). In addition, when a frequent flyer bonus applies for booking a ticket or a hotel room, you often will receive additional credit by booking the reservations separately as each booking will qualify for the bonus.
