Travel Deal of the Day (October 25, 2007)

If you have not yet purchased your Thanksgiving tickets, you will likely find very limited availability for your flights, especially for travel the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after Thanksgiving. If you are thinking about traveling the day before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after Thanksgiving, you might want to consider Y-UP or K-UP fares (which provide free upgrades to first class).

The Deal:
Y-UP and K-UP fares are expensive coach fares that provide free upgrades to first class. Most of the time, the cheapest coach fares will be far less expensive than these K-UP and Y-UP fares. However, on the most in-demand travel days (such as the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after Thanksgiving), most if not all of the lowest coach fares will be sold out. On those days, if you are having to pay very high coach fares anyway, you may want to look into one of these fares with a free upgrade to first class.
