Travel Deal of the Day (June 4, 2010)

Are you traveling to Vegas? If so, there are two important rules if you are trying to find the best hotel deal:

(1) If you are flexible with your dates, check hotel rates before you book your trip. Usually, weekday hotel rates are cheaper than weekend hotels rates. Many Las Vegas hotels have availability calendars on their websites - you can generally tell which are the low demand dates. Plan your trip to match the dates with the lowest rates.

(2) Book a cancellable hotel reservation and keep checking rates as your arrival date approaches. Las Vegas hotel rates fluctuate frequently. If demand softens, rates often decline. Also, consider using Priceline and Hotwire to find excellent hotel deals.
