Travel Deal of the Day (January 14, 2009)

The American Bar Association (ABA) has published its 2009 negotiated rates at mostly four and five star hotels throughout the US. Though there are some deals, you should compare these rates with any standard hotel rates, other discounted rates or any packages/specials that exist at any participating hotel.

The Deal:
If you are an ABA member, you have access to pre-negotiated rates at various hotels. If you are not a member, it may make sense to join if you find a particularly good hotel rate.

How:
ABA pre-negotiated rates are available at this link. Additional information about upgrades, free perks and other hotels offering ABA discounts is available at this link.

The Inside Scoop:
Demand for four and five star hotels is down this year. Given this softening demand, you may be able to beat some of these pre-negotiated ABA rates if you shop around and search for specials and packages. With that being said, some of these rates are very good, especially in situations (at some hotels) where you want a specialty (suite/club) room. Please note that this list does not contain all hotels offering ABA rates. I have encountered ABA rates at many hotels not on this list so always ask a hotel if they offer such a rate when you are searching for a room. Please also check both links above as some hotels offering discounted ABA rates are also offering free upgrades and free internet access due to the poor economy.
