Coast-to-coast fares have been dropping to extremely low levels, especially given the price of oil. Here is an example of a great fare.

Fares from Birmingham to Phoenix are now at $49/way on most major air carriers for travel through August 24, 2007.

The Inside Scoop:
If you anticipate flying between Georgia/Alabama and New Mexico/Arizona, this fare is about as cheap as you will find for late spring travel. Even with $3/gallon gas prices, it may be worth it to drive from Atlanta to Birmingham, for instance, to obtain this fare into Phoenix.
